COVID-19: Grounded Airplane Footage: Runways, Taxiways used for parking

As airlines idle thousands of aircraft with sky getting emptier day by day, we are seeing thousands of aircraft parked all over the world.





Taxiways, maintenance hangers along with runways at major airports are being used as a parking lot for the grounded aircraft.


Here are some of the footage of major airlines grounded planes:

American Airlines:     

American Airlines have parked a part of their fleet in Tulsa, Oklahoma including the 737 Max, the 777 and the 787 Dreamliner.

Delta Airlines:

Delta have parked their grounded aircraft at Pinal Air Park in Arizona. These photos were taken by the pilot who flew in there.

Delta is also parking their aircraft in Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville, California.

elta operates a fleet of over 900 aircraft, making it the second largest airline according to fleet size.

United Airlines:

The Chicago-based airline is storing some of its jets in Orlando International Airport. It has also sent some of its aircraft in New Mexico.

South American Airlines:  

LATAM aircraft are grounded in Santiago, Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Cuzco among others. LATAM is still operating handful flights in Brazil and Chile.

However, its operation in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru have been closed.

European Airlines: 

Swiss has rented parking lots at a military airport close to Zurich to park their grounded aircraft.

Lufthansa: 

Lufthansa group has grounded 700 of the total 763 aircraft among its subsidiaries.

Lufthansa and Condor aircraft are parked in one of the closed runways at Frankfurt airport. Its taxiway along with bridges are also being used for parking purpose.

British Airways:

British Airways have grounded their aircraft at Glasgow Airport and Bournemouth Airport.

International Airlines Group has announced 75% reductions in capacity among its subsidiaries.

Scandinavian Airlines:

In Denmark, Scandinavian Airlines have grounded most of its aircraft, after flight operations have been ceased.

Middle-East Airlines:

Emirates have grounded its fleet of A380s and B777s in both Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) airports.

Asian-Pacific Airlines: 

A large number of wide-bodies owned by Cathay Pacific along with Hong Kong Airlines and Hong Kong Express are parked in Hong Kong International Airport.

Singapore Airlines:

Singapore Airlines and its subsidiaries have grounded most of their aircraft at Singapore Changi Airport.

Korean Airlines: 

Korean Airlines grounded aircraft are parked on the tarmac at Incheon International Airport, South Korea.

Australian Airlines:

Some of the airports in Australia are providing parking space for the grounded fleet. Some of them are grounded at Sydney Airport.

Avalon Airport which is located west of Melbourne expects to park 50 aircraft from Qantas and its subsidiary. Qantas and Virgin Australia will use some of the parking space of Brisbane Airport.
