Video Shows Spirit Airlines Passengers Attack Airlines Employees In Florida

Three women arrested after police say they punched, kicked and threw even foods at Spirit employees at Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida.


According to police reports from the Broward County Sheriff's Office, these three female passengers started assaulting five Spirit employees at Gate G14 in Terminal 4.


The three Philadelphia female, all in their early 20s have been caught on camera by the police, throwing phones, shoes, full water bottles, metal boarding signs and even fast food at Spirit Airlines employees in Florida after their flight was delayed. 

According to Spirit Airlines, three Spirit employees suffered minor injuries when the three passengers "became combative following a delayed flight."

"The victims were also punched and kicked in different sections of their bodies numerous times by the listed defendants," the arrest documents clarified.

According to police reports from the Broward County Sheriff's Office:

"The defendants intentionally struck the victims against their will with miscellaneous items, such as phones, shoes, full water bottles, metal boarding signs and fast food.''

All the arrested women are all from Philadelphia:

Tymaya Wright, 20, was arrested on charges of touch or strike battery and petit theft for allegedly taking a Spirit employee’s phone.

Danaysha Dixon, 22, was arrested on charges of strike battery.

Keira Ferguson, 21, was arrested on charges of touch or strike battery.

It's unclear what occurred in the moments leading up the time the video recording begins. Spirit Airlines insists that it was a one-sided attack.

Miramar-based Spirit Airlines spokesman Erik Hofmeyer released a statement saying:

"We thank our Team Members for their professionalism and quick actions, and we also thank the Broward Sheriff’s Office for their assistance at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport yesterday."

"Three Guests became combative following a delayed flight, and they were arrested for physically assaulting our Team Members. Three of our Team Members sustained minor injuries. This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business," he added.

"We will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind. Further questions about this incident should be referred to law enforcement."

These women were taken to the Broward County Jail after being arrested on charges of touch or strike battery and for Wright.

"The safety and security of the traveling public and airport employees is part of our core mission," an airport spokesperson said.

"The behavior of the individuals as seen in the video during Tuesday's incident is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our facility. We applaud the prompt response by our airline partner and the Broward Sheriff's Office."

Following the incident, the flight was delayed for about 80 minutes, according to flight tracker FlightAware. 



The police authority said that further investigation is going on and the passengers could face additional charges.
